As of January 1, 2026, Central Manitoulin’s recycling program will be managed by Circular Materials, a national not-for-profit organization that is committed to building an efficient and effective recycling system in Ontario.

Until then, please visit Central Manitoulin’s website for recycling-related information.

Beverage Containers

Be recycle ready

Give containers a quick rinse before putting in your recycling.
Place materials clean, dry and loose in your recycling.
Flatten and bundle cardboard to save space.
Lids and labels can remain on containers.
Have your recycling to the curb by 7 a.m. on collection day.
Hazardous materials, like batteries and medical sharps, do not belong in your recycling. Safely recycle them at a designated drop off location.

The Province Bay Transfer Station

Location: 4077 Government Road, Providence Bay

Hours of operation:

Fall, Winter Spring: Thursday and Saturday 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. (September long weekend to May long weekend).

Summer Season: Thursday, Saturday and Sunday 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. (May long weekend to September long weekend)

The Big Lake Transfer Station

Location: 81 Big Lake Dump Road at 3248 Highway 542

Hours of operation:

Fall, Winter Spring: Saturday 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. (September long weekend to May long weekend).
Summer Season: Saturday and Sunday 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. (May long weekend to September long weekend).
