Recycling program transition
As of April 1, 2025, Ashfield-Colborne-Wawanosh’s recycling program will be managed by Circular Materials, a national not-for-profit organization that is committed to building an efficient and effective recycling system in Ontario.

Recycling guide and calendar
VIEWBe recycle ready
- Place all recycling at the curb by 7 a.m. on your scheduled collection. Please check the recycling calendar to determine your scheduled collection day.

Place on your mailbox side of the road EXCEPT the following locations and roads:
- Bluewater Highway 21
- All roads west of Bluewater Highway 21
- Belgrave Road, Lucknow Line, Amberley Road, Saltford Road, Londesboro Road, Sharpes Creek Line-South of Londesboro Road, and Donnybrook Line
- Hamlets of Auburn, Dungannon, Benmiller, Saltford, Nile, St. Helens, and Port Albert
- Recyclables should be placed loose inside blue boxes. Please do not bag recyclables.
- Flatten and break down cardboard to save space in your bin and ensure it’s collected.
- Rinse containers to remove any residue. Contaminated recycling will be left behind.

Plastic bottles and containers
- Recycle plastics by shape: bottles, jars, jugs and tubs
- Clean and dry containers, then put the cap back on before tossing in the bin.

Food and beverage cans
- Empty tin, aluminum and steel cans
- Empty aerosol cans are also recyclable. If the can has a plastic lid, remove it before recycling.

Paper
- Paper, newspaper and magazines
- If paper is soiled or wet, compost it or put it in the garbage.

Flattened cardboard and paper
- Flatten and recycle all cardboard and paperboard.

Food and beverage containers
- Milk cartons, juice boxes, and food cartons.

Glass bottles and containers
- Food
- Film plastics – no plastic bags, salt bags, or plastic wrapping
- Scrap metal – tire rims, kitchen sinks, taps
- Glass – drinking glasses, dishes, cups, window glass, mirrors, light bulbs, crystal, pottery, glass pots
- Hot beverage cups, coat hangers, paint cans with residue, tissues, waxed paper, foil gift wrap, Styrofoam/polystyrene, dish pails, toys, makeup jars, motor oil jugs, and salt bags
