Starting November 26, 2026, residents in Ignace will receive curbside recycling collection. The new service will make recycling easier and more convenient by allowing residents to recycle accepted materials from home through regular curbside collection.
Residents will be able to recycle a range of accepted materials through the new program, including paper and fibres, plastic containers and packaging, glass containers, metal packaging and more.
New recycling carts will be delivered beginning October 19, and curbside recycling collection will begin on November 26.
Prefer a smaller recycling cart? Or, if a 360-litre cart does not meet your recycling needs, you can request a smaller or additional recycling cart by October 9.
For residents who want to receive the standard-issued 360-litre cart, and do not require a change, no action is required. Your 360-litre cart will be delivered to your home.
To ensure residents choose a recycling cart that meets their recycling needs, we recommend reviewing the below considerations.
If, based on the above considerations, you would like to proceed with a pre-order for a smaller 240-litre cart, please complete the Recycling Cart Request Form for your specific community, outlined in the table below.
Only submissions received before the deadline will be processed. If you miss your community deadline, you will receive a standard 360-litre cart.
No, you will not be able to exchange the smaller 240-litre recycling cart for a larger cart going forward. Please review the considerations below before you complete a recycling cart exchange form.

We’re not able to provide future exchanges for smaller recycling carts. We encourage residents to choose the recycling cart size that best fits their household’s needs.
A full list of materials that can be recycled can be found here. As of January 1, 2026, you are able to recycle the same materials no matter where you are in the province. The list of materials accepted for recycling has also expanded to include additional items such as hot and cold beverage cups, black plastic containers, frozen juice containers, ice cream tubs, deodorant and toothpaste tubes.
Anyone experiencing a permanent or temporary physical disability that restricts their ability to set out their recycling cart at the curbside may be eligible for assisted collection service. Please note, a physician’s note is required to apply for this assisted service.
