Circular Materials is pleased to welcome five new Directors, effective May 27, 2026.
June 4, 2026 – Circular Materials, a national not-for-profit producer responsibility organization, is pleased to announce the appointment of four new Independent Directors and one Producer Director to its Board. This is another important milestone in the ongoing evolution of the organization’s governance.
As Circular Materials has continued to grow as a national organization, expanding its geographic reach through extended producer responsibility (EPR) recycling programs in Ontario, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Alberta and the Yukon, it remains committed to strong, transparent and effective governance that aligns with the evolving scope of work across Canada.
The addition of Independent Directors represents a significant moment in the organization’s governance evolution. Building on the previously announced appointment of Directors earlier this year, the Board reflects a broader and inclusive governance model positioned to meet the organizations’ future needs, while aligning to its vision and strategy.
The recruitment process followed a formal and comprehensive approach, led by the Board’s Nominations Committee and supported by Odgers Berndtson and Watson Board Advisors, two highly respected board advisory and executive search firms. Candidates were assessed against a defined competency framework and evaluated through detailed screening, interviews and governance best practices. The process attracted a highly qualified and diverse pool of candidates from across the country.
“This renewal marks the final phase of the Board’s structural evolution and our continued commitment to strong, balanced governance in support of our national mandate,” said Allan Cosman, Board Chair, Circular Materials Board of Directors. “The addition of Independent Directors enhances our diversity while preserving a majority producer representation. We look forward to the invaluable external perspectives and deep expertise of our new Directors, which will further strengthen the Board’s ability to provide effective oversight and strategic guidance as Circular Materials continues to evolve.”
The Board will evolve to nine Producer Directors and six Independent Directors. All new appointments will enhance the Board’s overall diversity and breadth of experience, while maintaining Circular Materials’ strong producer-led foundation.
“This is a critical step of our evolution as a national, producer-led not-for-profit organization,” said Allen Langdon, PDG, Matériaux circulaires. “Our new Board of Directors will enhance our ability to deliver on our mandate, strengthen collaboration across the system, and drive measurable outcomes for producers, communities and the environment. We look forward to working with our new Board as we continue to advance our important vision and mandate.”
Circular Materials extends its appreciation to all Directors who have contributed their dedication and expertise to the inception and creation of the organization. The Board’s leadership has supported Circular Materials’ growth and established a strong foundation for the organization to continue to evolve.
