Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Anyone experiencing a temporary or physical disability that restricts their ability to set out a recycling cart or bin at the curbside for regular recycling collection may be eligible for assisted collection service. Please note, a physician’s note is required to apply for this assisted service.

Depending on the physical disability, we may arrange for our local collection contractor to conduct an onsite visit of a residence to better assess the assisted collections support needed.

Assisted recycling support includes the collection contractor moving recycling bins or carts from the residence to the curbside for recycling and returning them on collection day.

Please note, the recycling carts or bins must be visible from the curbside for the collection contractor to move them. The collection contractor cannot collect bins or carts from any dwelling at the residence (such as a garage) or from any property areas beyond what is visible from the curbside (e.g. the back alley or backyard).

Yes, a physician’s note is required and must be provided as part of the application for the assisted collection service. The physician’s note should confirm the resident’s temporary or permanent physical disability and the need for assisted collection service.

No, there is no additional cost for the assisted collection service.

A member of the Circular Materials Resident Relations team will be in contact with applicants as soon as possible and will work with each resident on a case-by-case basis.

We are working with municipalities to identify residents who currently receive assisted collections. However, we ask that residents complete an updated application form with Circular Materials to ensure we have the most up to date information to meet your needs.

If your municipality doesn’t currently offer assisted collection service in your community, we will work with the local collection contractor to provide assisted recycling collection service in your region.

Assisted collections will occur on the same collection day as your community. Please consult the recycling calendar on your local community webpage at circularmaterials.ca/ON
