Be recycle ready

  • Put out recycling bins before 7:00am on collection day.
  • Recyclables should be placed in designated blue recycle bin.
  • Loose cardboard must be bound and bundled.
  • If you put your recycling out the night before and it gets covered with snow, please remove the snow to make it easier for the driver of the recycle truck to see your recycling.
  • Shredded paper must be contained in a blue or clear plastic bag. Cardboard that does not fit inside your Blue Box must be tied in bundles no larger than 39″ x 39″ and placed beside your bin. Cardboard that fits inside your Blue Box does not need to be bundled.
  • Please ensure that all containers are rinsed clean and free of food or residue.

Accepted and not accepted materials

  • Plastics stamped 1 through 7 (washed/rinsed with caps/lids removed)
  • Plastic lids stamped 1 through 7
  • Steel or tin cans (washed/rinsed with no food residue)
  • Aluminum cans (rinsed)
  • Polycoat and TetraPak containers (milk cartons, juice cartons – rinsed)
  • Newspapers, inserts, and flyers
  • Shredded paper (clear bagged), household paper, and envelopes
  • Magazines, phone books, and books (hard cover removed)
  • Cardboard boxes (flattened. Bundled 39″x39″ or less and tied outside the box if required)
  • Boxboard (cereal boxes, cracker boxes, tissue boxes, etc – flattened)
  • Cardboard egg cartons, paper tubes
  • glass
  • aerosol cans, propane bottles
  • plastic screw caps/lids, toys, flower pots/plastic planting flats, lawn furniture, Rubbermaid or Tupperware
  • foil or foam takeout food containers, single use disposable coffee cups or lids
  • waxed paper or cereal box liners
  • foam packaging, foam egg cartons or foam meat trays
  • aluminum foil or foil pie plates, scrap metal, hangers, metal toys or cookie sheets
  • anything containing a hazardous substance (motor oil, paint thinner, paint, batteries, etc.)
  • all plastic bags (bird, dog, cat food or pellet bags), all plastic packaging and all cellophane (chip bags, candy wrappers, and dog treat bags), bubble wrap, disposable diapers, paper towels, or tissues
  • Christmas wrap, bows and tissue paper
  • Cardboard containers that have a metal bottom or trim, such as Good Host Iced Tea, Pringles Chips or Maxwell House Coffee
  • Food scraps
