Each household received a standard-issued 360-litre wheeled, lidded recycling cart designed to hold two weeks of recyclables and accommodate a broader range of accepted materials.<\/p>

Following community feedback, in December 2025,\u00a0we launched\u00a0a\u00a0Recycling Cart Request Form for Stratford residents to\u00a0request and exchange for a smaller 240-litre recycling cart by February 16, 2026<\/strong>.<\/p>

Please\u00a0note,\u00a0we are not accepting\u00a0exchange request forms at this time but if you have questions or concerns about carts and cart exchanges, please contact our collection contractor Emterra at cartrequeststratford@emterra.ca<\/a>.<\/p>

The timeline for the exchange of smaller 240-litre carts is scheduled for the end of February. Residents who requested a smaller cart will be contacted directly by our local collection contractor Emterra. If the volume of blue box material generated by a residence consistently exceeds the capacity of the containers provided,\u00a0resident can submit a Recycling Container Request Form<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0to apply for an additional container.<\/p>

We recommend using your 360-litre recycling cart for a period of 90 days to understand your needs before requesting a smaller container size.\u00a0It is common for a residence to experience significant seasonal variability in recycling needs and increased volume over the holiday period. Blue box materials, particularly cardboard, must be broken down and flattened to support using the space efficiently.<\/p>

It is important that this only applies to households with a 360-litre recycling cart.\u00a0 A second cart will not<\/u> be provided for households who request an exchange for the smaller 246 litre size recycling cart.\u00a0<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/details>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t

Residents are asked to use their current blue boxes until the end of the year. Starting January 1, 2026, residents are required to use their new recycling cart. A full list of materials that can be recycled can be found here<\/a>. Starting January 1, 2026, you will be able to recycle the same materials no matter where you are in the province.
